The Story
There’s nothing more romantic than a holiday surprise engagement! The seasonal spirit rings in that cozy ambiance of merriment, festivities, and best of all: the gift of love. One day, a regular at our brewery, Terry, brought up his interest in designing a custom engagement ring to surprise his soon-to-be fiancé. Right away, he knew exactly what he wanted: a minimalist silver metal band featuring a low-set, breathtaking black diamond that would be ready before Christmas for an unforgettable holiday proposal.
The Design Process
In order to complete the ring before the end of the year, we started working on the design immediately! I loved the simplistic style, which perfectly complemented the vivid contrast between the silver tone of the metal and the rich depth of the black diamond. Since Terry visualized a design with the stone positioned on the same level as the tapered band, we decided on a bar setting, which provided the look of a tension setting, but with additional support beneath the diamond. From there, I provided him with a ring sizer to ensure a flawless fit…which he managed to achieve without her realizing that he was transforming her dreams into reality with a Christmas present she’d cherish forever.
The Final Piece
As promised, the perfected piece was delivered right on time for Terry to carry out his surprise proposal—and she said yes! That night felt like a fairytale filled with holiday cheer, laughter, and joy as they celebrated their love with family and friends at none other than our brewery. That’s right! I was lucky enough to witness first-hand how proudly she wore her custom engagement ring with enthusiasm as radiant as the black diamond glimmering on her finger.
The finished ring turned out beautifully: a striking, low-set black diamond nestled in a minimalist silver band as timeless as their bond. I could not have been happier for them and can’t wait for the wedding! Congratulations, Terry and Bibi!
